Ok, I’ll play. Bridge rectifier interchange, otherwise known as the compulsory truckstop:

Hmm, I’m yet to master the rest of the rectifier.... would the capacitor be a traffic light?

I figured a truckstop (load) can handle a pulsing input so it didn’t need a bus (haw haw) capacitor.

A cap’s a hard one to come up with a traffic analogy for - there’s a hydraulic analogy, but it uses a mechanism to provide the relationship between volts and charge rate that doesn’t translate to traffic (potential energy). I guess maybe the closest would be a toll plaza - it stores cars in queues and outflow is related to charge level in that when the queues get too long they open more toll booths. Though that analogy falls over pretty quick when you look too closely.

don’t even get close to a Zener diode.

Hmmm, you can go for wards at any speed you wa n t, but backwards only at a fixed speed. That sou nds a lot like the electric re verse gear on a motorbike, if you don’t think too closely.
